5 Iraqi Troopers Killed In ‘Terrorist’ Assault

A military officer and 4 troopers had been killed in an assault on their publish in Iraq’s central province of Salaheddin on Monday, officers stated.

Iraq’s ministry of defence stated that an officer and several other members of his regiment had been killed “whereas thwarting a terrorist assault”.

“Daesh terrorists launched an assault” on a military publish within the village of Mtebija “killing 4 troopers and the regiment commander,” stated a safety supply, utilizing an alternate identify for the Islamic State group.

The jihadist group overran massive swathes of Iraq and neighbouring Syria in 2014, proclaiming its “caliphate” and launching a reign of terror.

It was defeated in Iraq in 2017 by Iraqi forces backed by a US-led army coalition, and in 2019 misplaced the final territory it held in Syria to US-backed Kurdish forces.
